How do I submit my site to DMOZ? Is it true that DMOZ has a big influence on Google??

When a search engine like Google indexes your website, it analyzes it from many different aspects. However since it does not have a human brain -- or eyes for that matter -- it can not successfully summarize the website into one wholesome phrase. In other words it can not precisely figure out what would be the best way to describe the website.

This is when the unbaised (as it is a free service) human brains of DMOZ edtiors come in to play. Google uses the entries from its Directory which is powered by DMOZ as pointers towards figuring out the net worth of a site in regards to a certain keyword group.

Of course this is one of the hundreds of factors taken into account when ranking website, and being in DMOZ does not guarantee great results. But it does help add that element of human recommendation, rather than machine recommendation.
